Activities
Countryside Properties is a responsible developer of new homes and communities. We are also specialists in regeneration and design and build contracting. With this blend of skills, estate regeneration, private and affordable housing and the creation of sustainable communities are a significant feature of our activities. A proportion of this includes commercial property and mixed-use development.
We are very much a trading business and all of our completed projects are sold rather than retained as investments.
Considerable Financial Resources
The Company, which was established in 1958, is owned by Oaktree Capital Management and the Cherry family. The Company is predominantly funded through share capital and retained earnings. In addition, Countryside Properties enjoys a 5 year committed debt facility of £165m with Lloyds Banking Group. The Company’s aggregate financial capacity provides substantial resources to expand investment in future projects.
In addition, we engage in joint ventures with notable partners on a number of key developments. We have a tremendous portfolio of current and future projects amounting to over £5.1 billion.
Adding Value and Securing Planning Consents
Whatever sector of the market we are involved with a quality, added value approach is key for us. High quality design is a cornerstone of our approach and with the Government increasingly moving towards promoting good quality design it is fundamental in securing planning consents.
Planning is becoming more frustrating and the supply of new projects more restrictive. Our approach is to run with the Government's agenda and to ensure that we have the skills and resources to succeed in today's planning environment. We are adept at working at a local level with planning authorities and local people. As a result, we are highly successful in achieving planning consents for our development proposals.

"At Bidwells we value the strong relationship we have with Countryside Properties. As a multi-disciplinary agency, working with a multi-skilled developer is mutually beneficial, particularly as Countryside has a real understanding of the issues, constraints and opportunities facing development today."
