WOW FACTOR HOUSES SPARK THE IMAGINATION 29 July 2003

Every visitor has raved about the uniqueness of abode.  Its 'wow factor' is a combination of exciting design features ranging from bright coloured panels to weatherboarding; double height conservatories to thatched roofs, in an atmospheric layout similar to a traditional market town.

The first buyer at abode, London media worker Mark Field, bought his top floor, two bedroom apartment off-plan, and said that it was the individuality of the development compared to schemes he was looking at in central London, which sold it to him.  "I was knocked out by the stunning modern designs and loved the fact that one home is not like another," he commented.  "This means that, although the houses are close together, when I look out of my window I see interesting architecture not just a flat wall.  Most people never get the chance to live in a one-off, architect designed home  - buying into abode, I feel I have done just that!"

Internally the homes are as exciting as their unusual exteriors, and it was the imaginative use of space and light that convinced Mark it was the perfect place for him to live.  "I was looking for a home that would maximise the natural light, having spent many years in South Africa, and with the large floor to ceiling windows, even on the gloomiest of English days, the apartment feels light and airy and the open plan layout gives me the utmost flexibility."

It was the dramatic shapes at abode which sparked the imagination of another purchaser, David Broad and persuaded him to abandon his plans to buy an 18th Century four bedroom house in Royston and purchase a two bedroom, thatched mews house in the centre of the development.

"I have always been fascinated by the use of shapes and height in houses and when I drove past Abode it took my breath away," enthused Mr Broad. "I had never seen anything like it
before and could not wait to see how the shapes affected the light patterns inside the house.  I love the feeling of space in the house, which I know I could not have found in the traditional homes I was originally looking at."

Communications are also excellent at abode, and were another deciding factor for Mark Field.  "I need to be near an airport as I still travel a great deal and Stansted is only nine miles from abode," he said.  "Equally importantly I can commute to work with ease, as the station is less than two miles away with regular trains to Liverpool Street taking just 35 minutes."

abode is well situated for travelling elsewhere in the country, being a short drive from Harlow town centre and junction 7 of the M11 motorway, which provides fast access to the M25 and London, only 25 miles south, and Cambridge, less than 40 miles away.

Prices at abode range from £145,000 to £450,000 and show units should be viewable in June.  Further information can be obtained by visiting the on site Sales Centre, which is open seven days a week from 10.30am to 5.30pm, or by telephone on 01279 639309 or by visiting the abode website at www.abode.gb.com.
