Watch the Countryside Properties Salford Triathlon ITU World Cup on Grandstand on BBC1 this Saturday afternoon from 3pm!

It was a record year for participants with the elite athletes numbering over 130 and there was some very good, exciting racing with the British women doing particularly well.  Like the men they were also taking part in the National Championships at the event and World Cup places were up for grabs too.

Over 15,000 spectators watched all the action in Salford Quays alone.  Around 750 of the UK’s aspiring age-group athletes took the plunge, and pedalled and pounded the pavements of Salford, Trafford and Manchester.  Countryside’s Jon Clarke too part and finished in a very creditable 1 hour 38 minutes.  He raised more than £1,000 for Warrington Special Baby Care Unit.

As the only city in the United Kingdom to host an ITU World Cup event, Salford has truly proved itself to be the home of world class triathlon in the UK, having been granted a third consecutive opportunity to host this high profile sporting event.

My company is proud to return for the third consecutive year as main sponsor of the Countryside Properties Salford Triathlon ITU World Cup.  Sporting excellence is a driver for the investment and regeneration that is enriching people’s lives and we are pleased to play our part in that.  The event continues to bring such talented international athletes and aspiring amateur athletes back to this wonderful city and we are happy to once again be a part of it.
