Hundreds of people enjoyed the Countryside Properties' "Walk For Life" on Sunday 25 August. This gentle 10km sponsored walk which followed a route planned by the North Essex Ramblers Association raised more than £5,000 for four Essex based charities including the Essex Air Ambulance, The Play and Resource Centre, Farleigh and St Helena Hospices. All funds raised by the walk will be divided amongst the charities.
Starting in the Country Park at Great Notley, Braintree the walk meandered over fields and streams, passed through a picturesque village, skirted around the famous Felsted Vineyards and finished back at the Country Park.
Speaking on behalf of Essex Air Ambulance, David Philpott, Head of Fundraising and Development, said: "The Walk for Life showed how charities can work together on a simple fundraising idea. We are delighted with the response and the significant funds we have raised. We hope this Walk for Life will be the first of many."
