Top award at 2005 Evening Standard New Homes Awards 11 May 2005

Countryside Properties has come out on top at the 2005 Evening Standard New Homes Awards.

The Brentwood-based developer picked up four awards for its Harvard Grange development in Stock, Essex, and St Mary’s Island at Chatham Maritime, Kent, including the coveted title of overall winner of ‘New Home of the Year’, for Fitzwilliam House at Harvard Grange.

The titles of ‘New Home of the Year’ and ‘Best New Family Home with 5 or more Bedrooms’ for Fitzwilliam House at Harvard Grange; Highly Commended for the ‘Best Three-bedroom Family Home’ at Ventura, St Mary’s Island; and a Special Commendation for the ‘Best New Development’ for the Fishing Village,
St Mary’s Island, add to Countryside’s impressive
list of awards already received in 2005.

The judges, who included a panel of industry experts and readers of the Evening Standard, praised Fitzwilliam House at Harvard Grange, describing it as: “Stunning, fantastic, exceptional – a family home that’s practical and full of character, fits its surroundings without copying them and offers oodles of space.”

Ranging in price from £1,375,000 to £1,950,000, the exclusive development in the village of Stock comprises 21 individually designed detached five and six bedroom homes. The homes have proved popular with both the judges and purchasers with 70% already sold.

On receiving the awards, Chris Crook, Managing Director for Countryside Properties, commented: “We are delighted with the endorsements we have received for two very different schemes. Harvard Grange is a stunning development of luxury homes, which combine a unique combination of classic architecture and modern interiors in a secluded location.  It beat fierce and very varied competition to win the highest accolade of New Home of the Year.”  He added, “St Mary’s Island is one of the South East’s most successful regeneration initiatives, with a thriving community spirit and award winning contemporary architecture.”

Britain’s only planned new island community, the 150 acre site St Mary’s Island has been transformed from its industrial beginnings as a dockyard, into a new community by Countryside Maritime Ltd, a joint venture between Countryside Properties and South East England Development Agency (SEEDA).

Six properties remain at Harvard Grange, with prices starting at £1,375,000 and rising to £1,950,000. For further information, or to make an appointment to view one of the homes, please telephone 01277 841 935 or visit www.harvardgrange.com
