In the Housing Design Awards, Countryside Properties PLC and architects Melville Dunbar Associates have been awarded the RIBA Project Award for Excellence at their Thorley Lane project, which encompasses The Village and Regents Square.
In making these highly prized awards, the judges look for the very best in housing, planning and design. Marks are awarded for developments that are sensitive in their design and for projects that are well related to the local environment. Other considerations include innovative design and the provision of the kind of homes that meet the needs of their occupants. Only twelve of these coveted awards have been made this year and in reference to The Village and Regents Square, the judges concluded:
It is rare to see a coherent urban design strategy for a relatively large site worked out with such intellectual rigour.
The diversity of homes and the attention to detail at The Village makes every house unique in its own environment, creating an authentic village scene within a real village community. From classically designed, 2 bedroom Gatehouses to the opulence of the 5 bedroom Rectory, every home boasts an exceptionally high specification and the standards of finish are second to none.
Regents Square emulates all the elegance of a typical London square - yet it is set in semi-rural surroundings in the county of Hertfordshire. Great care and thought have been employed in ensuring this important development reflects the needs and the aspirations not only of the residents, but also the wider environment. Every aspect of Countrysides acknowledged expertise has been fully employed to create a range of homes that are as pleasing to the eye as they are to live in.
Countryside is extremely pleased to have won one of these prestigious awards and Chris Crook, Managing Director of its North Thames region commented:
We are delighted that the award recognises the sensitivity and care with which we have approached this project. Creating new communities is a task with enormous responsibilities, one of the most important of which is to ensure the homes we build will match the needs and aspirations of the diverse range of the people who will ultimately live there.
Prices at The Village range from £150,000 and at Regents Square from £277,000, both Sales Centres are open daily from 10.30 am - 5.30 pm, telephone 01279 834324 or 01279 501011 respectively.
