New Sustainability Report highlights responsible development

Sustainability Report 2011 22 June 2012

We have recently published our latest Sustainability Report. This is the eleventh year that we have reported on our sustainability performance - the longest in our sector. Our Sustainability Report 2011 provides information on our performance, particularly against our objectives over the last five years with an accompanying commentary. For the first time we also report on our compliance to the Global Reporting Initiative.

Highlights from our latest Report include:

• £19.9 million operating profit – ahead of our expectations

• All management practices registered to international standards and Investors in People

• 17,300 homes to be developed that will achieve at least Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3

• 4.9 million sq ft of commercial space programmed to achieve a minimum BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating

• 86% of customers would recommend us to a friend – our best ever customer satisfaction result

• 8 years running Accident Incident Rate below industry average

• Leading private developer with 4 Building for Life Gold Standards and 7 Silvers

• £5.1 billion future development programme

• £2.4 million site waste reduction cost saving (using WRAP benchmark)

• 22 years of Local Labour in Construction scheme experience

• 24 Considerate Constructor Awards since 2004 with scores consistently above industry averages

Andrew Carr-Locke our Executive Chairman comments in the Report that, “For us, sustainability has long been inseparable from the way we design, build and develop - and the results it brings our communities and shareholders is a sure sign that our approach is preparing us for a successful future.”
