Space is the greatest luxury of the modern age, stated Terence Conran. Recognising that clever interior design can bring further light, warmth, space and appeal to any home, Countryside Properties has two show homes with specially created interiors at its new 'Pelham Gate' development in Rayleigh, Essex. These two four-bedroom show houses have been designed to offer purchasers inspiration on how they can maximise the potential of these new properties.

Suzanne Dudding, Marketing Manager of Countryside Properties, comments, "The interior design of a home affects many aspects of a house, from how much light is allowed in, to how comfortable people feel when walking around. The two show houses at Pelham Gate have been created to help purchasers develop a visual picture of how the various rooms within their home can be decorated, while simultaneously creating a living space that is functional and practical.

"The show homes are in strong contrast to each other in both layout and design. Through incorporating two styles into the show homes we have illustrated the different effects which can be achieved in using various colours, textures and fabrics, which in turn, define and enhance the interior layouts of each property."

With its spacious open-plan accommodation, the four-bedroom 'Kempton' detached house is an ideal family home. The interior of the property has a contemporary, country style, using soft greens and pale yellows which effectively enhance the light and space which the open-plan layout affords.

The 'Warwick', a four-bedroom home, has been built in the style of a traditional townhouse. In striking contrast to the home's traditional exterior, the highly contemporary interior has a fashionable 'retro' theme and incorporates bold use of colours, including orange and red. In addition, modern geometric designs are featured in the horizontal striped wall paper in the family room and many of the soft furnishings throughout the house.

All of the new homes at Pelham Gate have traditionally styled exteriors, incorporating both rendered and brick frontages with timber features. This is stylishly combined with the contemporary and low maintenance interiors, which feature many modern details including sanitaryware by designer Philippe Starck.

The houses are being built in ten different styles, creating an attractive and interesting street scene. The development has been thoughtfully landscaped, with features such as the central tree-lined square, which create an instantly mature environment from the day the new homeowners move in.

Situated 35 miles from London (approximately) and nine miles from Chelmsford (approximately), Raleigh's proximity to the new A130 extension, A127 and A13 makes the town highly accessible by road to most parts of the county and beyond. The local airport at Southend on Sea is easily accessible, while trains from Raleigh station travel directly to London Liverpool Street, with a journey time of 45 minutes (approximately).
