Little Abigale Osborn was a VIP for the afternoon when she officially opened the new View Home at Countryside Residential's prestigious development 'The Village' in Stoke-sub-Hamdon, near Yeovil.

Abigale, aged four, who was chosen because she is the youngest pupil at the nearby Castle Primary School, was joined in a tape-cutting ceremony by Gerald and Margaret Hawkins, who were the first couple to move onto the new development.

Countryside Sales Consultant Sue Gower presented Abigale with a box of chocolates and Mr and Mrs Hawkins with a bottle of champagne. There was also a bottle of wine for Abigale's mother, Carmen.

The Village is being built in harmony with its centuries old environment through the use of the highly distinctive local ham stone, clay roof tiles and thatch and such has been the interest that half of the 48 homes have already been sold.

The 'Juniper' View Home, opened by Abigale, features three bedrooms, an ensuite shower room, lounge, kitchen-diner, ground floor cloakroom, garage and garden priced at £157,950.

Countryside Sales and Marketing Manager Andrew Biggs said at The Village's first phase only one home was remaining - a two-bedroom bungalow at £99,950.

For sale on the second phase is the last remaining two-bed home at £120,000, three-bedroom homes from £157,950 and four-bedroom properties from £275,000 to £375,000.

"Countryside's ability to provide new homes of character in the local architectural style, that also offer the best of today internally, has been the attraction for many of the buyers" said Mr Biggs.
