Last Houses at the Village

9 February 2000

'The Village', one of Countryside Residential's most popular developments of 76 new homes at St Michaels Mead, Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, has only six houses still available for sale.

All of the houses at this extraordinary development are built in the local vernacular to reflect the traditional character and individuality found in a typical Hertfordshire village. No less than 21 unique house designs have been ingeniously put together in this carefully created setting, ranging from two bedroom almshouse style cottages to five bedroom detached 'manor' houses.

Architectural detailing follows strict vernacular guidelines to ensure the atmosphere of a traditional village is retained, including natural brickwork, feature pargetting and render in a variety of traditional Hertfordshire colours. Other features include clock and bell towers, ornate chimneys, dormer windows and garages built to the rear of the houses through covered areas which are reminiscent of old coaching arches.

The interiors of the houses combine a traditional feel with authentic features such as brick fireplaces and feature windows, with modern, high specification fixtures and fittings. All the houses have separate family and formal entertaining rooms and the larger homes have formal master bedroom suites complete with dressing areas.

Helen Moore, Sales and Marketing Director of Countryside Residential (North Thames) Ltd., comments, "St Michaels Mead has proven to be extremely popular amongst purchasers who are looking to live in an attractive, village setting without compromising on the luxury and convenience of a modern home."

St Michaels Mead is situated on the outskirts of historic Bishop's Stortford, one of England's oldest towns, which offers a wide range of shops, a vibrant street market and excellent state and private schools. 'The Village' is ideally located with the M11 five miles away (approx.), providing a link to the M25 and a direct route into the City of London and Cambridge. There is also a fast and frequent rail service to Liverpool Street station with a journey time of around 35 minutes and access to the Victoria Line at Tottenham Hale. Stansted Airport is approximately 8 miles away.

Three 5-bedroom houses remain available priced from £385,000 to £585,000.

One 4-bedroom house remains available priced at £325,000.
