Every week over 18,000 people in the UK visit their GP following their first asthma attack. More alarming, almost four people per day die from asthma every year in the UK¹. Startling figures, which have been released to coincide with World Asthma Day (3rd May 2005).
The creation of low allergen family homes is one way of combating the rise of asthma in the UK. Countryside Properties’ Pendrill Park development in Papworth Everard, Cambridgeshire contains a unique allergy reducing initiative. Each home has an integrated ventilation system which improves the internal air quality and reduces the level of pollutants and allergens in the home.
Up to 85% of people with asthma are sensitive to house-dust mites¹. As people spend approximately 90% of their time indoors, it shows the importance of taking measures to improve air quality.
Chris Crook, Managing Director of Countryside Properties, comments: “Asthma has become a key health issue in the UK, costing the NHS around £850 million per year². The majority of cases are made worse by people’s sensitivity to house-dust mites. The innovative ventilation system at Pendrill Park signifies Countryside Properties’ commitment to create better living environments for the families of today.”
Homes at Pendrill Park utilise a new build concept known as the Envirohaus™. Each home is an air tight unit with a whole house ventilation system, which continuously circulates fresh, clean air throughout the property, helping to prevent allergy triggers such as stale and contaminated air, dust mites and pet allergens.
Nestling in the former grounds of Papworth Hall, Pendrill Park offers 31 three and four bedroom family homes and 2 two-bedroom apartments. A variety of materials have been used in the exterior elevation of the homes, including brick, render, slate and tile, all designed to blend with and enhance the existing landscape.
The village of Papworth Everard is just 11 miles from Cambridge city centre and is also ideally located for the M11 and A1 with fast links into London. 3 and 4 bedroom homes are available from £250,000 at Pendrill Park.
