An Edwardian school in Vauxhall is being converted by Copthorn Homes into new loft-style apartments, which will be known as 'The Academy'. Former classrooms in the old school house will be converted into 24 one and two bedroom, galleried apartments with double height spaces.

The development will also feature an element of new build, with two and three bedroom apartments using existing glazing features. The new architecture will be sympathetic to the original design, whilst exemplifying Copthorn's trademark of innovative style.

Apartments at The Academy will be ideal for both young and mature professionals, or as investment properties, as the homes have the potential of rising quickly in value.

Neil Armstrong, Marketing Director for Copthorn Homes

Neil Armstrong, Marketing Director for Copthorn Homes, comments, "Copthorn's previous developments in London have been extremely successful and we expect this scheme to follow in the same way. The location is a prime regeneration area, close to the City and the West End, with lots of local amenities in Vauxhall itself. Apartments at The Academy will be ideal for both young and mature professionals, or as investment properties, as the homes have the potential of rising quickly in value."

New homes at Lawn Lane will overlook Vauxhall Park, one of London's oldest parks. The homes would suit commuters working in the City and West End as tubes from Vauxhall station, (Mainline, Northern and Victoria lines), is less than a quarter of a mile from the development. A good local bus network also serves the area.

Local amenities include schools, shops, restaurants and bars, a post office and a hospital. There are excellent arts and leisure facilities nearby, with the respected arts complex on the South Bank as well as Oval House Theatre and Vauxhall Park, which has play areas and tennis courts. The famous, Oval Cricket Ground is also nearby.

Enquiries are now being taken for the new homes at Lawn Lane, which will be launched in June with prices from approximately £300,000 for a one-bedroom apartment, £375,000 for a two-bedroom apartment and from £400,000 for a two/three bedroom mews house.
