Historic Home In The Cotswolds

The 19th Century Old Ropery has just opened as the show home centrepiece of a high quality development, which also includes a converted cottage from the same era and two new houses, which are being built in the local vernacular.

The distinctive building offered scope for an imaginative conversion in the heart of this sought-after area, including a 45-foot roof terrace, accessed via a spiral staircase, providing superb panoramic views across Burford and the Cotswold countryside.

The original high arched windows of the Ropery have been retained throughout allowing an abundance of light into the house, as well as offering an excellent outlook.

The ground floor looks out onto a secluded walled garden and consists of a master bedroom, with en-suite bathroom, two further bedrooms, a family bathroom and a utility room.

The first floor comprises a large 24'8" x 16" 9' open plan living area, separate kitchen, a conservatory/dining area with a glazed ceiling and a 12-foot balcony.

Meanwhile the Old Cottage has been also extensively refurbished to provide all the comforts of a modern three-bedroom home, yet retaining its original charm and character.

A similar attention to local architectural style is shown by the two new three-bedroom homes, which have been carefully and sympathetically designed using local Cotswold stone and features typical of the surrounding houses.

Countryside Sales and Marketing Director Richard Rawson said: "This a charming development, combining both new and old, yet still retaining the appeal and character of traditional Cotswold properties and the picturesque market town of Burford.

"The Ropery in particular is an unusual and highly individual home of great character and we are already receiving great interest in it."

The four houses will be priced from approximately £275,000 to £600,000 and the Old Ropery show home will be open daily from 11am until 5pm.

Further information about the Old Ropery development is available from Miles Collison at selling agents Knight Frank on 01865-790088.
