Greenwich Millennium Village Completes 400 Homes

Greenwich Millennium Village is now celebrating the completion of 400 sustainable homes on Greenwich Peninsula.  From the early days of the Village it has been clear that residents have been 'buying into' the environmental credentials of the project.  Customer research has shown that around 80% of residents consider the sustainability agenda to be a significant factor in either purchasing or backing up their decision to buy at Greenwich Millennium Village.

The resident of the 400th home is Greta Zoob, who has moved to a waterside apartment overlooking the Thames, the Thames Barrier and the Ecology Park.

Mrs Zoob moved to Greenwich Millennium Village from a four-bedroom house in Chislehurst.  "I had lived there for 40 years and it was time for a change.

"My daughter-in-law lives in Charlton and she had been watching Greenwich Millennium Village taking shape.  She realised it would suit me very well; my son queued for me so that he could reserve the apartment.  I was so excited I didn't sleep that night after I'd reserved.  Now that I am actually living here all my friends are very enthusiastic when they see my apartment and the view.

"When I arrived it was all so carefree.  It seems well built and I haven't had any problems.  Everything worked well when I moved in – no problems other than that I am still not really sure how to manage the heating controls!  I bought off plan and really didn't realise how nice it would be.  I like the fact that it is well insulated and that it is environmentally sound.  One likes to be involved in something green.  So far it has been economical to run.

Prices for Parkside start from £199,995 for a one-bedroom apartment.

For those keen to become part of a lively community in an exceptional setting, a number of new homes are available at Greenwich Millennium Village.  For further information contact the Visitor Centre at Greenwich Millennium Village on 020 8293 6900 or alternatively visit the new website at www.parkside-gmv.co.uk Visitor Centre opening times are as follows Monday 1pm – 6pm, Tuesday - Friday 10am - 6pm and Saturday - Sunday 11am to 5pm.
