6 November 2000

A variety of highly innovative new homes demonstrating exciting 21st Century designs, have been launched for sale at Brooches Mead, Great Ashby, near Stevenage, Hertfordshire.

Copthorn Homes, recently voted, 'Best Medium-Size Housebuilder of the Year' at the 2000 What House? Awards, is constructing the various house designs with features that will enhance the space and natural light within the homes. This is clearly demonstrated in two striking new show homes which will be opening for the first time on 11th November.

Open plan ground floor living accommodation includes integrated conservatories which have been designed to maximise space and light, encouraging greater sociability within the household and allows purchasers the freedom to choose how their living space is used.

Other features include conservatories in the bedroom and interior glass-block walls. Extra living space has been incorporated into some of the houses at Brooches Mead by clever and innovative design. In some houses, glazed walkways lead across from the first floor to self-contained studios above the detached double garages. In others, extra rooms have been created in the roof and en-suite bathrooms and dressing areas have been designed over the garage to form part of an impressive master bedroom suite.

These imaginative designs offer purchasers a refreshingly different style of contemporary living as well as an innovative use of space. This is Copthorn's philosophy, which will be clearly demonstrated within the 155 inspirational new Hertfordshire homes at Brooches Mead, comprising two bedroom apartments and two, three and four bedroom houses.

Neil Armstrong, Marketing Director of Copthorn Homes, explains, "We have kept the more traditional cottage style of country homes on the exteriors, so the houses blend in with the local rural character. By contrast, the interior of the homes combine a wealth of original, exciting and highly innovative features."

Great Ashby is one of the brightest new communities in the South East which will ultimately contain its own country park to complement the many areas of retained woodland, in addition to a new community hall, playing fields and sports pavilion. There is also provision for a neighbourhood centre, complete with shops, doctor's surgery and a site for a new primary school and children's playground. Formal playing facilities will be laid out and linked to the new homes by a network of informal and public footpaths.

Public transport links include fast trains from Stevenage railway station to Kings Cross, London, (journey time approx. 30 minutes). Excellent road networks also provide easy access to the A1M, the M25 with direct links to London and the North, and to the nearby town of Stevenage (approx. 4 miles), which provides an extensive range of shopping and leisure facilities.

Homes at Brooches Mead are available from £100,000. For further information call Copthorn Homes on: 01438 727 327 or by email at: gt-ashby@copthornhomes.co.uk Alternatively, visit Copthorn Homes' website on: www.copthornhomes.co.uk
