Once again, Copthorn Homes is leading the way in design innovation at its fashionable New River Green development in Islington, London, N1. The use of large glazed areas is one of the latest features in urban interior design, creating a modern, contemporary appearance externally, as well as maximising on natural light inside, which gives emphasis to the living space.
New River Green comprises two striking developments, totalling 63 new homes and incorporating several retail outlets, which forms an important part of Islington's regeneration scheme. The first 30 two-bedroom open-plan apartments have recently been launched for sale and are already 70% sold out.
The use of extensive glazing can clearly change the feel of contemporary apartment living. This is demonstrated at New River Green, where Copthorn's philosophy on space and light is epitomised with features such as open-plan living areas, glass doors onto private balconies or balconettes and French casement windows. Other apartments have mezzanine levels which are integrated with the external design of the building by continuous glazing which envelopes the top floors. The most striking feature of New River Green is the integrated conservatories which are partly inset into the footprint of some of the apartments.
Tony Travers, Managing Director of Copthorn Homes, comments, "The clever use of 'fenestration' makes a home much more interesting, as well as drawing attention to the contemporary design of the development. These glazing designs are quite spectacular and in a class of their own."
As New River Green is situated close to the St Paul's conservation area in Islington, Copthorn Homes has worked closely with the London Borough of Islington Conservation Officer to achieve an innovative, contemporary design, yet one which blends with its surroundings. The buildings have been constructed using traditional quality materials and one of the buildings is set around a conventional courtyard setting.
Private car and cycle parking is provided in both developments, one of which has underground parking facilities. The New River Green sales centre is located on the corner of St Paul's Road and Clephane Road, within half a mile of Highbury and Islington tube station (Victoria Line), and within a quarter of a mile of Canonbury BR station.
The two-bedroom apartments with conservatories are available for sale from £220,000, with one-bedroom apartments starting from £177,500.
