Award-winning developer, Copthorn Homes has already taken five thousand enquiries from applicants in eager anticipation of the opening of The Chronos Building in Mile End Road, London, E1. The grand launch of this stunning new development will be held at noon on Saturday 24th June.
The building comprises 65 new homes, in a mixture of two and three bedroom maisonettes, two bedroom apartments, three bedroom town houses and eight retail units.
An impressive five-storey rotunda is the focal point of the new building, which has been recognised for its striking appearance by judges at the National HomeBuilder Design Awards who commended it for its 'innovative design and construction'.
The Chronos Building has also been praised by the Royal Fine Arts Commission as "…an example of how skilful design can create housing of high quality." The rotunda forms a geometric transition between the neighbouring former Victorian fire station and the adjoining Georgian terrace, whilst signifying the entrance to a courtyard of apartments, maisonettes and town houses. Two apartments are located on each floor of the rotunda offering superb views of either the Mile End Road or the courtyard with Trinity Green beyond.
Tony Travers, Managing Director of Copthorn Homes commented, "The interest in The Chronos Building has been phenomenal." He explains, "The development follows an innovative design which complements the neighbouring historic buildings. Each home has been designed to benefit from a balcony, a terrace or a courtyard and many of the apartments have ceilings which are over 3 metres high and large expanses of glazing which maximises on space and light."
The Chronos Building takes its name from the Greek word for 'time' and whilst it is very 'of the moment', its location is one which is steeped in history. The development is located in an important conservation area next to the Grade I listed Trinity Green Almshouse Court and its frontage is at the location where William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army, preached his first public address.
The innovative design includes clipping terracotta tiles onto a steel façade to ensure the building fits in with the surrounding period homes. In addition, the style incorporates profile turn-coated stainless steel roofing, which has superior durability, and balconies which become extensions of the living areas through the inclusion of adjustable louvered screens.
Mile End Road is a popular location amongst young professionals who work in the City or Docklands. Whitechapel Underground Station (District, Hammersmith & City and East London Lines) is approximately a quarter of a mile away. Locally, there is a good choice of shops and leisure facilities. Underground parking is also available.
Following the launch of The Chronos Building on 24th June, the first homes are scheduled to be completed in August, priced from approximately £177,950.
