According to the Department for Transport, the Bluewater shopping centre in Kent has been flagged up as one of the South East’s most likely destinations to enjoy easy, trouble-free commuting by leaving the car behind and exploring the options of an enhanced network of public transport.

A recent report entitled ‘Making Travel Plans Work’ has highlighted the many benefits to be gained from travelling via the Bluewater area, a fact that has not gone unnoticed by buyers at Copthorn Homes’ Waterstone Park development, set on the periphery of the popular retail and leisure complex:

“We are very aware of the excellent transport links and commuter opportunities to be gained by moving to Waterstone Park,” confirmed Neil Armstrong, Marketing Director for Copthorn Homes. “The development is within easy reach of many methods of public transport, such as the local BR station which brings London Bridge station within a 39 minute journey. There is also a brand new high-speed rail link scheduled for completion in 2006/7 which will bring London St Pancras Station within 20 minutes of Ebbsfleet and Paris within just 2 hours!”

The Department for Transport report highlights the fact that every day, more than half of Britain’s commuters make a journey to work in their cars, however, there are other alternatives and, rather than sitting in congested traffic, they can become part of a workforce travel plan, which could revolutionise the way in which British commuters travel to work. By enlisting major employers, such as Bluewater, to encourage car-free access to their sites, and by providing better public transport options, the Department for Transport aims to reduce traffic at source and relieve the burden it places on our local communities.

The report explained that Bluewater has been instrumental in remodelling the local bus network and offering ticket discounts, free travel and implementing a variety of other measures to help staff use public transport. Many staff have been recruited from the local postcode areas, in order to facilitate the smooth-running of this revolutionary new scheme.

Waterstone Park could easily be described as offering civilised solutions to urban living. Set on the periphery of Bluewater at Kent, the development offers an inspired blend of homes designed with Copthorn Homes’ inimitable flair and imagination within a ‘garden’ environment. All homes have been designed to blend beautifully with the unmistakable vernacular flavour of West Kent, whilst proclaiming their individuality and style.

As well as the famous Bluewater shopping centre situated just a short walk away, Waterstone Park is perfect for commuters. In addition, for those who need to travel further away, the M25 is just two miles away giving access to the motorway network.

Prices at Waterstone Park currently start at £182,000 for a two bedroom apartment, rising to £370,000 for a four bedroom home with a bonus room.
