A walking school bus to the recently opened Kings Hill Primary School, has seen the end of traffic congested school-runs at Kings Hill Villages in West Malling, Kent. This is an impressive new 650-acre residential and business community, which has been strategically designed with practical, sustainable and environmentally forward-thinking features, to accommodate the changing lifestyles of its community.
Sales and Marketing Director of Countryside Residential, Richard Rawson, comments, "Our over-use of motor vehicles can not continue to escalate at today's levels. It has been a political and media issue for as long as I can remember, and it is wonderful to see something practical being done about it at grass roots level." Richard continues, "The walking school bus is a safe, fun and sustainable way for the children to travel to and from school."
Leaving the car at home has been encouraged throughout the design of the development, where the Kings Hill Nursery school, Kings Hill Primary School, offices, play areas, The Kings Hill Institute (The University of Greenwich) and a supermarket, are all close together and linked by networks of well lit and traffic-safe footpaths, cycle-ways and even bridleways. On completion, Kings Hill Villages will also include a public house, a hotel, community hall and a medical centre.
Roads have traffic calming features such as speed humps and mini-roundabouts, to increase safety levels for pedestrians.
It is set in a 650-acre landscaped environment which incorporates hundreds of acres of undulating terrain extending across large areas of protected heath, parkland and mature woods.
Countryside Residential has recently launched the most recent phase of 81 Georgian-style houses at Prince Regent Park in Kings Hill Villages. The 3, 4 and 5 bedroom houses range from pretty cottages and gatehouses to imposing country residences. They are located next to the golf course and within a ¼ mile radius of the new school, supermarket and a golf clubhouse.
Kings Hill Villages includes 1,850 homes adjacent to a 6,600 yard, par 72 golf course complete with its own full length driving range, short game practice area, putting green and a pavilion-style clubhouse, which currently provides meeting rooms, a bar and a restaurant.
Countryside has extended its offer of free membership to Kings Hill Golf Club with the purchase of new homes that are legally completed before 31st March 2001.
Approximately 2,500 people currently work in the Business Park, which is expected to rise to 10,000 when Kings Hill is complete.
Prince Regent Park is located in the Kings Hill Villages, on the outskirts of the historic town of West Malling, close to the M20 with direct access to the M25. A shuttle bus service operates between Kings Hill and West Malling mainline train station, which has direct links into London Victoria, Blackfriars and London Bridge (journey times vary from approx. 40 to 60 minutes).
A selection of 3, 4 and 5 bedroom houses are currently available at Prince Regent Park, priced from £174,950 to £485,000.
