The 'winner of winners' award, also known as the 'Evening Standard New Home of the Year award 2000', has just been awarded to Countryside Residential (North Thames) Ltd, at the ninth Evening Standard New Homes Awards ceremony which was held recently at the Savoy.
This is the most prestigious prize of the Evening Standard Award ceremony and was attributed to the five-bedroom 'Rowlandson House' design, which Countryside has built in Herongate, Essex. The same house also won 'first place' in the 'Best Luxury Home' category at the awards.
Comedian and star of Jonathan Creek, Alan Davies, hosted the awards ceremony, where home builders from all over the country flocked to see if their efforts had been recognised by some of the leading names in property development, as well as selected readers who also sat on the panel of judges.
The 'Rowlandson House' is a spectacular five bedroom house laid out over three floors. It has been designed with separate formal entertaining rooms at the front of the house and informal reception rooms for relaxed family living at the back. A grand staircase leads from the hallway to a galleried landing which is flooded with light on three sides. Each of the five bedrooms is complemented with its own en suite bathroom and the house boasts an additional laundry room, pantry, study, games room, conservatory and triple garage.
The property was described as "refreshingly different" by the panel of judges, who praised it for the "amount of thought that had gone into it".
