After selling out of homes at its 'Coleman Square' development in Peckham, Copthorn Homes is planning a new development nearby, at Kelly Avenue. Continuing the success of the previous development, in what is the largest urban regeneration scheme in Europe, Copthorn will soon start work on the 108 one and two-bedroom apartments and 11 three-bedroom townhouses. The regeneration of Peckham has marked it out as a 'hot spot', which is becoming an increasingly attractive area for investment.
The design of the new homes will follow Copthorn's trademark style, which is to make the most of the light and space with open-plan living areas. In the apartments, the features will include glass block walls and full French windows with balconettes. This contemporary style will be continued in the town houses, which will have external steel staircases at the rear, leading to decked terraces on the second floor. Each of the townhouses will also have a private garage, accessed through security gates.
Neil Armstrong, Marketing Director of Copthorn Homes, explains, "The high demand for our new homes at Peckham earlier this year has proved that this is becoming one of the more popular places for young people to live in London. Our homes here have appealed to a young, aspirational market who want to live in the capital, but have been squeezed out of the central London market. We have continued to meet demand with Kelly Avenue by again providing contemporary, high quality designs at affordable prices."
Close to Kelly Avenue are excellent amenities such as shops, bars, restaurants and other entertainment that will appeal to young professionals. Also nearby are the districts of Southwark and Docklands, which have recently enjoyed increasing popularity along with Peckham. These are popular areas with key-workers, such as nurses, teachers and emergency services staff.
Purchasers will be able to benefit from easy access to the centre of London and the city through excellent transport links. New Cross (East London line) and Elephant & Castle (Bakerloo & Northern line) provide an efficient tube service around London. The nearest train stations are Peckham Rye or Queenswood Road. Air travellers can choose between Stansted, Gatwick and Heathrow airports.
Prices at Kelly Avenue are anticipated to start at approximately £93,000 for a one-bedroom apartment, rising to £300,000 for a three-bedroom townhouse. The first homes will be released for sale in February 2002.
