Countryside Properties and English Partnerships have received planning consent from London Borough of Barking and Dagenham for 602 new homes at Lymington Fields, Dagenham as part of the London Wide Initiative.
The scheme, which was designed by architects BPTW partnership, includes the provision of a new primary school and will cut CO² emissions with the installation of solar panels and biomass boilers. Over half of the new homes will be traditional family houses with gardens.
The site is owned by English Partnerships in connection with the London Wide Initiative, and is being developed to increase the provision of affordable homes for key workers in London.
Michael Hill, Business Development Director for Countryside Properties said: "We have put a tremendous effort into getting the proposals right, and believe that this decision proves that our extensive consultation with the council and local community was the right course to take. This scheme will provide housing for key workers, in a sustainable environment, in keeping with the wider community".
Kevin Clark from English Partnerships said: "Everyone involved with this project is delighted with the decision - it is a fantastic development, with a blend of private and affordable homes, and green areas for families to use".
