Developers Countryside Properties and Taylor Woodrow, in association with English Partnerships, are celebrating their latest, outstanding sales success at Greenwich Millennium Village.
The Watermark phase of the Village, including apartments, duplexes, penthouses and townhouses, has just sold out – bringing the total number of new homes sold in the last 16 months to 191 and the revenue generated to over £52 million.
‘We are absolutely delighted with the way in which Watermark – and, indeed, Greenwich Millennium Village - has been received by London home-buyers,’ comments Niki Turner of GMV. ‘We have achieved an excellent sales rate in a market that has been described at best as ‘difficult’ by agents and developers alike. This has been due to the unique nature of Greenwich Millennium Village and the homes that have been created there.’
The people who have bought at Greenwich Millennium Village will no doubt agree. Research reveals that purchasers are mainly professional people – couples and singles – ranging from first time buyers to investors. They appreciate the individual style of the homes and the numerous benefits of living at GMV but also share a belief in the concepts and principles of sustainability that underpin the development.
As one purchaser commented ‘…GMV represents excellent value for money. We like the combination of light, open-plan internal space, ground-breaking architecture, great transport links, eco-friendly living and a sense of space so often lacking in urban developments nowadays.’
GMV has been created with the environment in mind, both in terms of energy saving and ecology. Watermark’s apartments, penthouses and townhouses are set beside a man-made lake and the Ecology Park, areas of natural beauty and a haven for wildlife. A sense of community has been already been created, helped by the opening of a new primary school and health centre in the area, along with a cinema complex, supermarket, restaurants and other amenities on Greenwich Peninsula. Transportation links are excellent, with Jubilee line being close at hand, Greenwich Peninsula has excellent bus links – and it is possible to travel easily by bike into the City or the West End. The A2 and A13 allow for easy access to the Peninsula.
With homes at Watermark now sold out, the attention at GMV is focused on the new phase of development, Parkside. Located at the heart of the Village and adjacent to the central park area, the tranquil setting boasts fantastic views across the lush green landscape towards wetlands and the River Thames. The buildings that form Parkside are set around two enclosed garden courtyards, attractively landscaped with hedges, grasses, ferns and flowering trees including cherry and ash. High-level terraces and private balconies provide views over the gardens or over the Southern Park towards the Thames.
The range of one, two and three bedroom apartments, and penthouses at Parkside has been designed with ‘flexible’ space in mind, with sliding walls to create open plan living areas. Custom designed kitchens incorporate optional mobile island units, high-level feature granite worktop and a range of integrated appliances.
Parkside has already attracted a number of purchasers, even before the new show home was opened at the end of September. Prices at Parkside range from £195,000 for a one-bedroom apartment and from £255,000 for a two-bedroom apartment.
