The average person in the UK spends the equivalent of five weeks a year commuting to work, according to a recent survey conducted by the RAC Foundation. Most Londoners will have recently experienced ongoing transport issues within the capital which has meant that journey times have been subject to marked increases in recent years.
'Sandown House', one of the largest and most prestigious historic buildings in Esher, Surrey, is conveniently located close to Esher station offering residents a 23 minute train journey into London Waterloo station. Historically referred to as 'Number One, Esher' due to its prominent location on the Old Portsmouth Road, the Grade II Listed mansion has been sympathetically converted and restored by Countryside Properties in partnership with Latchmere Properties. Each of the 23 one, two and three bedroom elegant apartments benefits from spacious rooms and high ceilings, together with a contemporary interior designed for modern living.
Chris Crook, Managing Director of Countryside Properties comments, "The average journey time in London is increasing and this is likely to get worse as result of the congestion charges, as it is anticipated that more people will be using public transport in the capital. A substantial number of people are moving further out of London to reduce their commuting time to work in the city.
"Sandown House is conveniently located close to Esher station and the journey to London Waterloo takes approximately 23 minutes on the train. The time spent travelling from outside the city is often quicker than for those people who live in London zones two and three. In addition, the apartments at this prestigious development combine the appeal of period style exteriors with the benefits of high quality stylish, modern interiors."
Each prestigious home benefits from a spacious drawing room and many include an additional dining room. A home cabling system enables multiple telephone links, high speed internet access, a home network, and the facility to watch videos and digital television from any TV in the apartment. The kitchen is custom-designed with granite work surfaces and a range of stainless steel integrated Gaggenau appliances, while the bathrooms feature quality sanitaryware and an Aqualisa Aquavalve shower.
Security has also been carefully considered to ensure residents' peace of mind. State of the art security systems have been installed and much of the ample parking is underground with controlled access. Sandown House is set in splendid grounds that have been landscaped to include a charming sunken garden and attractive planting. Many mature trees have been retained, providing shaded seating areas for residents.
Esher offers a wide variety entertainment such as a cinema and charming bistros, restaurants and bars. Horse racing fans will be able to take advantage of the very short walk to Sandown Park, as well as nearby racecourses such as Kempton Park, Epsom and Ascot. Golf and other leisure facilities are also available in close proximity.
Esher lies within the prime commuter belt, approximately 15 miles out of central London and with easy access to the A3 and M25. In addition, there are frequent rail services from Esher station to London Waterloo, with journey times of approximately 23 minutes. The nearest major shopping areas are Guildford and Kingston, which are within an easy drive.
