Nurses and other caring staff and volunteers at Farleigh Hospice are now benefiting from a tranquil outside space thanks to the support of local companies led by Countryside Properties plc.

The new 'Nurses Garden' was officially opened on Friday 30th June when Countryside Properties plc, Chairman, Alan Cherry CBE DL handed over the garden to Keith Andrew, Chairman of the New Farleigh Hospice Appeal.  The development involved the team from Countryside in designing the new garden and in providing their staff and skills to turn that design into a reality with the help and support of other local companies Chelmsford Electrical, Tamdown, Camps Ltd, Rolawn, AJB & Sons Ltd and J L Knight Ltd.

The gift from Countryside Properties plc has also included tree planting, lawns and a greenhouse with the Company agreeing to maintain the garden for at least the next 12 months.

Alan Cherry CBE DL Chairman of Countryside Properties commented, "We know the special tranquil garden at new Farleigh Hospice will be valued and therapeutic for hospice staff and for the nurses in particular.  We're delighted to have been able to use our skills and expertise in creating this well designed outdoor space.  We really do appreciate all that other local companies have done to assist us in making the garden a reality."

Accepting the new garden on behalf of the team at Farleigh Hospice, Keith Andrew said "The dedication of the nurses and other healthcare staff at the Hospice never ceases to amaze me.  We are delighted that the team at Countryside Properties have been able to provide this wonderful garden that will give our devoted team a chance to recharge their batteries and continue their caring work."

Notes for Editors
The new Farleigh Hospice near Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, Essex, opened its doors to its first patients in January 2006 following 17 years of providing care at the old Hospice on New London Road.  With a remit to care for people with life limiting illnesses throughout mid Essex, Farleigh Hospice supported some 2,400 people last year.  All of this care is provided free of charge and the Hospice relies on the generosity of local people donating, fundraising and leaving gifts in their Wills to ensure this care can continue. http://www.farleigh.org/
