Countryside Properties and Notting Hill Housing Trust have been appointed by Havering Council to build around 170 new homes on the 7.2 acre former sheltered housing sites at Darlington and Chippenham Gardens in Hilldene, Harold Hill, Essex.
Demolition of the rundown buildings is expected to start during the summer while the start on site for new development is due in 2011. The sites will be transformed to provide mainly affordable homes for rent and shared ownership, together with homes for private sale. This much-needed mixed-tenure development will be delivered with financial support from the Homes and Communities Agency.
Lead member for housing at Havering Council, Councillor Lesley Kelly said: “We are delighted to appoint Notting Hill and Countryside Properties as the preferred partners. While all the bids we received were of a high standard, Notting Hill and Countryside Properties offered the best quality of housing and offered value for money. We look forward to working with Notting Hill and Countryside Properties on this exciting new development in Harold Hill.”
