Good design is at the heart of every project we undertake and we are delighted that, through this award, its importance in high-density housing has been recognised by the property world.

The outstandingly individual and imaginative architecture at abode, Newhall, Harlow has scooped up another major property award for its developer Copthorn Homes, a part of Countryside Properties PLC. At the recent highly competitive International Property Awards 2003, sponsored by Bentley, Copthorn not only won the Best Architecture award for abode, but it also collected a second award for its corporate website www.copthornhomes.co.uk in the Best Developer Website category.

Since its inception, abode has been an award winner and a talking point of the property industry. At project stage it won a Housing Design Award for its initial plans, a House builder Award for 'the best example of a scheme on a previously undeveloped site' and the inaugural Building For Life Gold Standard award as an outstanding example of high-density development.

Eric Pickles MP presented Copthorn Homes with the awards at a glittering evening reception held recently at London's Park Lane Hotel. Marketing Director, Neil Armstrong commented: "Good design is at the heart of every project we undertake and we are delighted that, through this award, its importance in high-density housing has been recognised by the property world. We are very proud of our achievements at abode and delighted to have received such a prestigious international accolade."

In addition to the imagination and clarity of the Copthorn Homes website, the judges were very impressed by the importance placed on user friendliness: in particular the totally novel customer archiving facility.

"We were particularly congratulated for our 'My Folder' section which is the first of its kind to provide customers with fast, easy access to up-to-the-minute information on their buying process," continued Neil Armstrong.

"Achieving this award reinforces our belief in putting the customer first in every step of the house buying process and going the extra mile to ensure that the transaction is as smooth and enjoyable as possible for our buyers."

The International Property Awards are in their ninth year attracting entries from many of property's leading players, from construction and house building, through estate agency, to marketing and PR. A committee chaired by Eric Pickles, who is joined each year by a selection of property journalists, architects and sponsors, judges the contest.
