The innovative housebuilders Milford design was voted the best "First Time Buyer Home" for 1998 by a panel of property experts with the casting vote going to the house buyers. The final judging of each Evening Standard award , completed by a selection of housebuyers from the London area, ensures that each winner is chosen by those who are actively hunting for a new home:
"We are really delighted with this award." commented Tony Travers, Managing Director of Copthorn Homes. "The Milford fully encompasses the ideas and innovations we incorporate into all our house designs. It is gratifying to know that the housebuying public itself fully recognises Copthorn Homes as an innovative housebuilder."
Part of the Milfords winning charm was in its unusual layout. Externally, it defied the usual first time buyer expectation with its coach-house style design and use of mellow antique-style brickwork. Internally, the cleverly designed living space could easily be tailored to suit each individuals lifestyle not just for today, but, as requirements change, for the future too.
The Milfords clever balance of stylish living possibilities and flexible layout proved ubeatable. Not only did the attractive new home provide a lounge, fitted kitchen, separate dining room, and bathroom, but it also offered the benefit of a bedroom and loft style annexe on an airy upper floor.
Point scoring features included a sunny, galleried landing, single garage and an upper floor full of surprise potential. Alongside the spacious bedroom, a light, bright landing area with roof windows was perfect as a sunny retreat. In addition, the adjacent bedroom-sized den offered infinite possibilities for creative space utilisation.
All Copthorn homes fully maximise upon all available light and space, offering buyers a choice of superb homes, full of contrasts. Many feature innovative rooms in the roof which allow each to adapt to differing lifestyles for many years to come.
