One of South London’s most talked about regeneration projects must surely be in Peckham, and now, thanks to schemes such as Coleman Square, where 34 homes were sold last year, and the South Quarter development consisting of a further 119 homes, the words on everyone’s lips are Copthorn Homes. Already 33 families have moved in.

Not only has the high-profile developer, renowned for imaginative and innovative projects across London, Essex, Hertfordshire and Kent – helped to spearhead the revitalisation of the area on a massive scale with these two schemes, it has also joined forces with Copthorn Homes sister company Countryside in Partnership to provide shared ownership homes via local housing associations. Countryside in Partnership has recently been awarded its tenth contract under the Peckham Regeneration Project:

“We are very proud to be able to play such an important role in the regeneration of Peckham,” confirmed Neil Armstrong, Marketing Director for Copthorn Homes. “The area has long needed to undergo a renaissance and now, in line with the creation of schemes such as ours, there will be many opportunities for people to come together and enjoy a quality lifestyle in a flourishing part of London which offers many advantages in terms of housing, commuting options and newly implemented recreational facilities.”

South Quarter is set to become a new landmark in Peckham. The development will feature a total of 108 one and two bedroom apartments, created to resemble a traditional Victorian London terrace in keeping with the existing architecture. The scheme will feature a variety of differently designed apartments, all benefiting from Copthorn Homes’ award-winning flair for innovative designs.

In addition to the apartments there will also be 11 townhouses – due for release early next year - each including a garage to the rear, with security gates, and interior layouts that will feature spiral staircases, integral conservatories and superb open-plan living areas.

South Quarter could hardly have a more convenient setting. From its location in Kelly Avenue, it is within easy reach of excellent local amenities including first-class shopping facilities combining major high-street names with an eclectic mix of small, specialist shops, Oriental supermarkets and Caribbean grocers.

The newly created Central Square in Peckham boasts a state-of-the-art library, a multiplex cinema and the new Pulse leisure centre. In addition, nightlife and entertainment is plentiful with restaurants, bars and cafes less than a mile from the centre of Peckham and with Southwark’s and Docklands’ fashionable nightspots and eateries within a short cab ride.

Peckham also has excellent transport links with New Cross and Elephant & Castle providing an efficient tube service around the capital. Peckham Rye and Queenswood Road are the nearest BR train stations, whilst air travellers will find that the Gatwick, Heathrow and City airports are easy to access.

In addition to the homes for private ownership that Copthorn Homes has brought to the area, its sister company Countryside in Partnership, has also been working hard behind the scenes to provide no less than 733 homes for rent and shared ownership. In addition, job opportunities have been increased, thanks to the Company’s commitment to using local labour forces through partnership schemes with local subcontractor firms wherever possible:

“The regeneration of Peckham isn’t only centred around the homes that are being made available,” concluded Neil Armstrong. “By using local labour, we are putting something back into the community and creating new job opportunities.”
