Countryside Properties has won two awards in the Mail on Sunday National HomeBuilder Design Awards 2005. St Mary’s Island, Chatham Maritime won the 'Best Brownfield Development' category, whilst the 'Best Large Housing Development' was won by Abode, New Hall, Harlow. Since there inception 24 years ago, the Mail on Sunday National HomeBuilder Design Awards have become recognised as the supreme awards for design excellence and innovation. They are backed by RIBA and the NHBC.
The judges said St. Mary's Island is a "comprehensive redevelopment of a 150-acre derelict island. Sustainability is a key feature of the residential development, with the emphasis on energy efficiency and water conservation.”
Regarding Abode they commented, “At Abode – the proof of the pudding is in the eating, in that people have gone out of their way to buy into it because they want to live there, not because they have to or need to.”
