Award-winning housebuilder, Copthorn Homes, enlisted the help of local interior designer, Just Imagine Total Design, to create a show-stopping focal point for its popular Brooches Mead development at Stevenage with two, spectacular five-bedroom showhomes.

The Billericay-based interior designers were commissioned to come up with two separate schemes, both of which would appeal to the modern-day professional family, one of which would be styled in a classical design, the other more contemporary.

The five-bedroom 'Saxon' showhome proved to be a real winner when it was recently chosen by judges at the International Property Awards 2002, as a winner in the Best Classical Interior Design category.

Created around a classical, yet very visually striking, theme of rich shades and tones from a green palette, interspersed with metallic gold and silver, the Saxon provided a warm and welcoming ambience. Luxurious fabrics and textures were used to add depth and interest. Pastel shades of mauve were introduced to add calmness to the impressive studio room, enhancing the light, airiness of the room’s vaulted ceiling and large windows in which ‘Just Imagine’ created a fabulous music room theme.

The modern and contemporary Mortimer showhome also featured metallic silver, but, this time, as a perfect foil for the cool, almost glacial, colour scheme of clear white and soft cream. Colour was injected by using bright green, with textured fabrics included to add interest.

Metallic green and silver made a powerful impact in the spacious living room, which also featured a Perspex table, and the blue colour-washed Amtico flooring added an impressive entrance statement to the hallway. In direct contrast, the master bedroom exuded the crispness of fresh snow, with a tonal white and cream colour scheme, and the coolness of Beech, chrome and clear Perspex furniture, another bedroom was designed to follow an Astrology theme:

"We are naturally delighted that our interior designers won a prestigious award for the Saxon showhome," enthused Neil Armstrong, Marketing Manager for Copthorn Homes. "We know that these two, superb homes have been very well received by visitors. Good quality design is always at the core of what we do."

“We worked closely with Copthorn Homes on the design of the showhomes,” explained Michelle Gibbs, Director of Just Imagine Total Design. "Initially we were in close consultation with the Company, to understand the target market for the development, and were given a blueprint of the type of family who would be expected to live in the home – in the instance of the Saxon, young and dynamic professionals with children – and then, armed with our information and research, we chose the perfect design treatment to appeal to the modern day professional family."

The theme of individuality does not stop with the interior design; Copthorn Homes also offer a range of Options and Choices to purchasers, meaning that every home can be a blank canvas to which the homeowner can add their own interpretation. Choices are made early in the build process and determine the type and colour of kitchen units and worktops that are put into the house, chosen from a wide range that Copthorn has available. Options are optional extras ranging from Amtico flooring to additional integrated kitchen appliances that can be included in the home for an additional cost.

Brooches Mead has already proven to be one of the award-winning housebuilder’s most popular developments. The final phase of homes at Brooches Mead fully illustrates Copthorn Homes’ passion for design and philosophy of maximising space and light. The homes are finished in a traditional style to ensure they blend perfectly with the rural beauty of the Great Ashby area.

Great Ashby is perfect for all types of buyer, whether they are single people, couples, or young families. The area’s close proximity to excellent communication links – the A1(M) is close at hand and the M25 is approximately 18 miles away – making it perfect for commuters. Stevenage also has a BR station with direct services to Peterborough, Leeds, York, Newcastle and Edinburgh. Central London is also easily accessed as Kings Cross station is but 30 minutes away by rail.

Entertainment and leisure facilities in the area are second to none, with a 500-seat theatre, and Retail and Leisure Park with ten-pin bowling facilities and plenty of opportunities for sporting activities. There are also excellent shops and amenities in nearby Stevenage.
