Abode is a top 10 Architectural Highlight of the Year

CABE, the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment, has recently credited abode Copthorn`s scheme in Newhall, Harlow as one of the best architectural success stories of the year. Indeed it was the only housing scheme in the top 10.

In CABE`s Annual Report for 2002/3 other building design favourites for the year include: Imperial War Museum North, Salford Quays; the Swiss-Re Tower in the City of London, the City of Manchester Stadium, and the Winter Gardens in Sheffield.

In July, abode won CABE`s inaugural Building for Life Gold Standard award presented by Deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott.

CABE chairman Sir Stuart Lipton said:
"Despite an economic downturn, we have seen a host of great buildings, spaces and places completed in the last 12 months, and many promising new proposals have come forward. The public appetite for exciting contemporary architecture is growing."
