New homes at Copper Wells, Heywood 13 May 2010

Countryside Properties has pushed the green button on five of its sites across Greater Manchester this month and construction work has sprung into life to build nearly 500 new homes across the region.

The UK maybe have been experiencing political uncertainty recently, but according to the RICS UK Housing Market Survey of April 2010, there has been a rise in sales enquiries and reports it is expecting a post election bounce as vendor activity picks up.  Buyer enquires have also risen to 41% from 35%; indicating that savvy house buyers are keen to take advantage of the financial support packages available before they run out.  With this in mind, Countryside Properties is gearing up to provide a wide variety of genuinely affordable family homes with a high specification.

It has three brand new sites being launched this month, two in Heywood and another in Gorton.  In addition, Oakwood Reach, Stalybridge has been brought back to life and the next phase of the flagship regeneration scheme New Broughton in Salford is underway.

Martin Leggett, Regional Sales Director, Countryside Properties said: "We believe that now is a great time to get our new developments underway, particularly as we have seen an increased appetite from buyers across the region for quality new build homes.  However, we would urge them to act quickly to take advantage of affordable prices and Government financial support schemes as they only have limited funding remaining.

“There is a real opportunity to provide the customer with even better value, something which other developers are shying away from. Not only are we able to offer a range of financial support such as HomeBuy Direct and our own shared equity schemes, we have also raised the bar significantly with our standard specification in order to reduce buying and moving costs to the minimum."

New developments to launch this month are Copper Wells, Heywood comprising two, three and four bedroom houses with a small proportion available through HomeBuy Direct. Countryside Properties has seen unprecedented interest from first time buyers (FTBs), at its other Heywood project, Merchant’s Gate where five off-plan sales have been secured, which now means it only has five, 2 bedroom houses remaining.  On the back on the hugely successful SportCity in East Manchester, Spinning Vale in Gorton is launching with the first twelve 2 and 3 bedroom houses for sale, the only ones available with Countryside’s shared equity scheme. Finally, Oakwood Reach, Stalybridge has seen demand from young, local FTBs also and has already had four off-plan sales as a result of launching its final phases of one and two bedroom apartments all available through HomeBuy Direct with prices from £49,000 for a one bedroom home.
