Choices for Grahame Park (CfGP), in conjunction with London Borough of Barnet, has appointed Countryside Properties PLC as preferred house builder partner for the renewal of the Grahame Park Estate in North West London. CfGP is a partnership between Genesis Housing Group and Notting Hill Housing Group.

The appointment of Countryside Properties follows a six-month competition process involving the country's leading house builders. The regeneration of Grahame Park will comprise new homes for sale, rent and shared ownership. It is anticipated that construction works will start in early 2004 and complete in 2013, at a total development value of around £250m.

Alongside the new and refurbished homes, the estate will also benefit from over £12m invested in the re-provision of community facilities including shops, civic buildings and a community centre.

Grahame Park Estate, built in the 1970s as a key part of London Borough of Barnet's housing provision, currently comprises 1777 homes, plus commercial premises and community facilities.

Anne Dufton, Chief Executive of Choices for Grahame Park said: "The appointment of Countryside Properties is a decision made by CfGP in conjunction with the residents' selection panel, and one which I am extremely pleased to now pick up the lead on.

"Countryside Properties has a reputation and track record of delivery, which will now sit alongside the substantial housing and regeneration experience of the CfGP partners, the commitment and knowledge of the residents and the drive of the council. Together, we will ensure that the new neighbourhood we are creating will meet the needs, expectations and community aspirations of its residents."

Richard Cherry, Group New Business Director, Countryside Properties, commented: "I'm absolutely delighted that we've been selected for this highly important project. Our aim in working with our partners is to create a successful and sustainable community at Grahame Park where the homes for rent, shared ownership and sale are totally integrated and all residents will receive the same level of service.

"This significant initiative is further evidence of our ability to undertake large mixed-tenure projects which are becoming increasingly important to the Group with the growing emphasis being placed by Government planning policy on balanced community development and estate regeneration. The Group is at the forefront of this valuable and growing market sector in London and the South East of England."

The CfGP partnership is now developing the initial masterplan, in designing a solution which meets residents' wishes, economic criteria, and contributes positively to the urban landscape.
