The Countryside Properties' Salford Triathlon ITU World Cup took place on Sunday 27th July attracting crowds of over 30,000 spectators and proved a day to remember for one of the fastest growing sports in the UK.

Rekindling the excitement of the 2002 Commonwealth Games, the event was an exciting spectacle and a testament to the fact that public/private sector partnership can make great things happen. Salford City Council has a 3-year commitment to the project and intends to stage the event for the next two years.

More than 1,100 triathletes took part in a series of races starting at Salford Quays (close to the Group's highly exciting 'NV Buildings' development) and covering Salford, Trafford and Manchester. British international Andrew Johns and Australian Pip Taylor made the headlines for their respective wins in the high-profile elite men and women's races.

Countryside Properties' Deputy Chairman David Thornham presented the top three elite women with their medals and Ann Lever, Sales and Marketing Director of Countryside Properties' North West Division presented the winning men with spectacular bouquets of flowers.

Ann Lever commented, "The event has been highly successful in building our brand in the North West which with four major developments in Manchester and Salford is highly important. With the coverage on BBC1 it will also help to promote the Group throughout the UK. Our guests really enjoyed the day and the awareness of the NV Buildings in particular has been greatly enhanced with so many spectators in Salford Quays."

The event was televised on Grandstand on BBC One on Saturday 2nd August.

Countryside Properties is building four major developments in the twin cities of Manchester and Salford which will deliver 1,000 new homes and an investment of £231m by 2006. They are NV Buildings, The Edge, Sportcity Living and South at Didsbury Point.

At the 'NV Buildings' in Salford Quays, Countryside is creating 246 apartments in 3 striking curved waterside buildings. 'The Edge' in central Manchester comprises 275 high specification apartments and penthouses, 7,500 sq ft of retail space, and 18,650 sq ft of office accommodation, overlooking the River Irwell and next door to the prestigious international 5 star Lowry Hotel.

'Sportcity Living' is a contemporary waterside scheme comprising 360 apartments and townhouses, located close to the City of Manchester Stadium in East Manchester. 350 new contemporary homes and apartments are being created at 'Didsbury Point' in South Manchester. Also at Didsbury Point 275,000 sq ft (25,550 sq m) of business space, together with a 150 bedroom hotel and restaurant are proposed.

NV Buildings' Marketing Suite is open daily from 11am to 6pm Friday to Wednesday and 11am to 8pm Thursday.
