This summer sees the launch of Axis, Countryside Maritime's stunning new development on St Mary's Island, Chatham Maritime, Kent.
A joint project between Countryside Properties and the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA), Axis has recently been launched and will provide 47 two, three and four bedroom houses which have been designed specifically for the island location.
Set within 20 acres of open space on St. Mary's Island, Axis combines striking traditional Kent architecture with a contemporary approach to housing design. Exteriors of the homes feature crisp cedar wood boarding as a modern twist to the traditional Kent style, complemented with buff coloured brick and neutral renders.
The interiors of the homes include large expanses of glazing which flood the main living areas with natural light. Designed for flexible living and providing smart solutions to everyday needs, as well as the demands to conserve energy and resources, the homes are finished to the highest specification which is both practical and up-to-date.
The modern homes will cater for a wide range of residents in a mixed community ranging from young professionals to families looking for more space in a safe and pleasant environment.
St Mary's Island offers a unique lifestyle where, thanks to an extensive network of cycle routes and footpaths, residents can revel in a quiet, clean and relaxed atmosphere.
Chris Crook, Managing Director of Countryside Properties, commented: "The lifestyle on offer on St Mary's Island has been tremendously popular, as demonstrated by the success of our existing developments here. Once people come here they are keen to stay - already we have purchasers who have upsized and moved from an apartment at the Fishing Village to a family home at Ventura as they enjoy life here so much.
"We have achieved a great deal since we started work here 10 years ago. We are delighted that we're now able to progress with the next phase of development and this marks another important chapter in the regeneration of St Mary's Island."
St Mary's Island is a 150 acre residential redevelopment and Britain's only planned island community. Over 900 homes have currently been built and approximately 2,000 in total are planned for development, providing homes for over 5,000 residents. St Mary's Island forms part of the 350 acre Chatham Maritime regeneration project in Kent.
Axis joins Countryside's other award winning schemes on St Mary's Island: Ventura, the Fishing Village and Northshore.
