Cosmopolitan living comes out top in City Survey!

Friends and Sex and the City were iconic in setting the trend for city living with great shopping and fantastic nightlife becoming the latest must haves in our lives.

To mark the launch of Norwich’s latest residential scheme, NU Centrale, Countryside Properties quizzed residents to find out what they loved most about living and working in the city.

Over 100 people were polled and asked for their six favourite things about Norwich to discover the ‘Six in the City’.

The results reveal the people of Norwich love their cosmopolitan lifestyle with four out of five of the respondents putting shopping at the top of their list. The city’s multitude of places to eat and drink took the number two spot with the people who put a smile on the city’s face and making your night out great in fourth place.

In contrast to the lively nightlife and the culture of the city’s museum, Norwich’s traditional skyline with the cathedral, castle and riverside took third.

The ‘Six in the City’ results are:

1. Shopping

2. Places to eat and drink

3. Historic architecture

4. The people

5. Norwich City FC

6. Theatre

Chris Crook, Subsidiary Managing Director for Countryside Properties said: “As a nation we love to shop and with Norwich lying above the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle in the shopping stakes¹, we were not surprised by the top answer. It is interesting that the historic architecture of the city has been picked by residents adding to the whole city experience.”

Chris continued: “Norwich is a fantastic location for city living with the survey highlighting the city’s assets and Nu Centrale offers an exciting opportunity for people looking to enjoy this thriving location.”

Still cutting the mustard in the city is people’s love for Carrow Road’s favourite eleven, Norwich City Football Club, which males voted in second place.

Some unexpected responses were also given with food lovers citing Jarrolds cheese scones and mushy peas among their top six. The distinctive Norwich accent also received votes as did the landscaping of the city centre’s roundabouts!

Nu Centrale comprises 98 one and two bedroom apartments for sale, with an additional 32 affordable properties.

Located on Greyfriars Road in the city centre Nu Centrale is ideally located within walking distance of Tomblands, the theatres, restaurants and retail district – all topping the list of people’s loves of Norwich.
