Copthorn Homes, a member of the Countryside Group, has been named Regional Housebuilder of the Year in the prestigious 2000 Building Awards.
In a fiercely competitive field, Copthorn Homes was declared the outright winner at this year's awards ceremony, held recently at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane.
In their report the judges stated, "Copthorn Homes emerged as the winner thanks to all-round excellence in design, innovation, marketing and concern for the environment. By eradicating standard house types and employing independent architects Copthorn Homes has pursued design flair. This shows in its space-maximising conservatories in the roof-space and studios above garages."
As he accepted the award on behalf of the Copthorn Homes' team, Managing Director, Tony Travers said, "We are very proud to be named Regional Housebuilder of the Year in the 2000 Building Awards. The success of Copthorn Homes, signified by this award, is founded upon the hard work and dedication of every member of our team, many of whom have been part of the company since its inception six years ago. This success is recognition of how far we have come in a relatively short space of time and for our constant drive to respond to the requirements of homebuyers for innovative, flexible homes in this new century."
Copthorn Homes has taken the property market by storm with its imaginative new homes, many of which include unusual features such as 'Rooms in the Roof' with conservatories, formal and informal 'zones' and glazed walkways leading to first floor studios above garages.
Other facets of Copthorn Homes' considerable ability, which appealed to the judges, were its regular quality checks throughout the building programme, its excellent record of customer care and after-sales, and its concern for the environment:
'Copthorn Homes has designed a lifestyle product that people now rush out and buy,' confirmed Adrian Barrick, Editor of Building Magazine, which organised the awards.
This prestigious award follows Copthorn Homes' success in the recent Guardian sponsored Homebuilder Design Awards when the Essex based company was commended for its groundbreaking development, The Chronos Building, at Mile End Road, London E1, which is being sold from June onwards.
