Celebrating 10 years in the North 20 November 2006

This month Countryside Properties marks its tenth anniversary in the North of England, and underlining just how far its Northern division has come, it now aims to build in excess of 1,000 high quality homes over the coming 12 months.

Ian Kelley, Subsidiary Managing Director of Countryside Properties comments: "It is exciting that this month marks our tenth anniversary in the North and with it comes a number of business objectives, most notably a target to deliver 1,000 homes in the next year. This is a realistic target we're confident we can meet and one that clearly demonstrates how far we have come in such a short period of time."

The Company estimates that this target will deliver approximately 1,000,000 sq. ft. of new development.

Mr Kelley continues: "Our anniversary also brings a number of impressive benchmarks. Since 1996 our Northern division has grown from just four employees to 240 today with 1,500 people also indirectly employed on any given day. This is a clear illustration of our tremendous success in the region which we're very proud of.

"The business is also growing organically into new areas. Having established ourselves as one of the major developers in Manchester, Cheshire and Lancashire, we've invested in a series of large scale regeneration programmes across the wider region which will transform areas of Liverpool, Salford, Preston and the Midlands with schemes in Birmingham and Stoke-on-Trent.

The first phase of the 74 hectare, multi-million pound investment in New Broughton in Salford has recently received detailed planning permission. This major scheme is less than one mile from Manchester city centre and is due to start shortly with the first phase comprising 432 new homes. Environmentally sensitive design will be at the forefront of the development.

The Company's iconic mixed-use development at Mann Island on Liverpool's historic waterfront have also just been granted planning permission. The project combines 376 one and two bedroom apartments with more than 200,000 sq ft of commercial space.

Also in the pipeline is City Park Gate a joint venture between Countryside Properties, Quintain and Birmingham City Council. Plans are in progress to develop a £220m mixed-use development at the heart of the city centre. The scheme features over 840 apartments with 240,000 sq ft of commercial space and subject to planning permission is due to start in August 2007.

Work is also well underway on two schemes in Stoke-on-Trent; Sadlers Park and Lock 38, which will see the creation of 600 homes with additional commercial and community facilities.
