Homes at Waterstone Park have proved enormously popular with local people. More than 70 per cent of the apartments and houses have been sold to residents from the local area in the first phase of the development, which consists of 201 homes in total.
As part of the development at Waterstone Park, Copthorn is also developing new parkland and a dedicated children's play area. In the second phase, the grounds around Stone Castle will be restored and another new park will be created for use by local people.
The new phase of houses at Waterstone Park have been planned with great style, consisting of a wide range of styles of apartments, townhouses and detached homes arranged in boulevards, crescents and around parkland.
Maurice and Monica Nepaul had considered the prospect of moving from their small home to a larger property for some time. When Monica discovered that she was expecting their first child, they decided to make the move. Waterstone Park fitted the bill because they both needed to be within easy reach of a main line station to London where they both work.
Maurice explained: "We saw the development, the next day we decided to buy and moved in five weeks later. It really was that quick! We didn't want to have a long wait; not with a baby on the way, as we wanted to be in and settled well before the new arrival. Copthorn Homes helped us to achieve that."
Stone has three primary schools, with a secondary school in nearby Swanscombe. There are also good further and higher education facilities and excellent sports and leisure centres.
Waterstone Park enjoys good transport links with an efficient bus service from Stone village to Dartford and Gravesend. There is good access to the M25 and the M20. The nearby A2 allows direct journeys to East London and Docklands via the Blackwall Tunnel. For rail commuters, Greenhithe station offers fast and frequent services to Dartford, London Bridge, Waterloo and Charing Cross. The new Channel Tunnel International Station, currently under construction at Ebbsfleet, is less than five miles away. There are also plans for Fastrack, a rapid transport system being developed for Kent Thameside, to establish a route that will run between Dartford and Gravesend town centres via Bluewater and Greenhithe station. The service should be in operation in 2006.
The famous Bluewater shopping centre is nearby, with 320 of the finest shops, restaurants, cafes and bars plus a 12 screen cinema complex. Beautiful countryside and Kent's spectacular coastline offers further scope for great days out.
Waterstone Park is part of the Kent Thameside development area within the Thames Gateway where up to 30,000 new homes will be built over the next 25 to 30 years.
