In the recent Mail on Sunday National Homebuilder Design Awards 2003, Best New Home in the UK was won by Countryside Properties for Marlborough House at Westwood in Tunbridge Wells which won 40% of all the thousands of votes in the Mail on Sunday's readers poll. The most striking feature of the arts and crafts style house is the galleried space above the double garage which can be used for an office, playroom or as a bedroom suite. The five bedroom house has a light and open interior with a vaulted family/breakfast room. It was sold last year at £760,000.
The Group also received three other awards including two commendations in the 'Best Housing Project' category for the Edge, an exceptional new mixed-use development in central Manchester and for New Holland Green in West London, an estate regeneration project overlooking newly created parkland. The Fishing Village at St Mary's Island, Chatham Maritime was commended in the 'Best Use of a Brownfield Site' category.
