Countryside Properties PLC has been awarded the coveted Silver Award for 'Best Development' at this year's What House? Awards for 'Panners Bridge', the final phase of homes at Great Notley Garden Village in Braintree, Essex.
The prestigious What House? Awards 2002, referred to as the 'Oscars' of the house building industry, was held on Friday 15th November at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. Over 1,400 people attended the ceremony to hear who had been picked as the winners, with the awards being presented by Joanna Lumley.
The What House? Award for the 82 new homes at Panners Bridge marks a highly successful completion to the housing element of the company's largest and longest running scheme, where development started nine years ago.
Helen Moore, Head of Corporate Communications for Countryside Properties, comments, "We are very aware that good design improves quality of life for the people who live in our homes, and also those who use the open spaces that we create around them. Panners Bridge is our last phase of new homes at Great Notley Garden Village, and it is fitting that we have won this award after nine years of hard work in developing what has become a landmark development."
The What House? judges explained, "In creating Panners Bridge, Countryside Properties has utilised all the opportunities provided by existing landscaping and contours to create successful and pleasant spaces. Elevationally, the scheme develops a number of differing styles, to give a village feel and utilises a palette of differing materials and details."
In addition to this accolade, Countryside Properties also won the gold award for 'Best Partnership Development' for the Millennium Plus at the Nightingale Estate Regeneration Scheme in Hackney, by Countryside Properties' In Partnership division. Copthorn Homes, part of Countryside Properties PLC, won a silver award in the 'Best Interior layout' category, for their development at Waterstone Park in Kent.
