Rising star of the interior design world, Kerry Tornetta, known for her work creating award-winning showhomes with the internationally renowned fashion designer Ben De Lisi, is particularly proud of the showhomes at Countryside Properties' development Ringley Lock.

"With most new homes now sold off-plan, showhomes are an excellent way for buyers to get a better feel of how their property will look. It gives them an opportunity to see the property layout and the quality of the fixtures and fittings. It also gives them an idea of how spacious and flexible their future living space will be.

"The showhouses at Ringley Lock were particularly exciting to design, as the rooms are spacious and easily adaptable, so I had a lot of flexibility. I wanted to create chic and modern living spaces that would also compliment the beautiful riverside setting of the development and the traditional charm of the surrounding villages.

"To strike this balance, I decided to use a vivid colour scheme with neutral shades to evoke a contemporary style and sophistication, and combined it with more traditional styles of furniture to fuse rich country living with modernity.

"In the living room, I selected warm colours like mustard, scarlet, and charcoal grey for the cushions, carpets and upholstery, to create a warmth and combined them with black and cream to give it a more sophisticated feel.  The cream-coloured walls, carpets and couches reflect the light inside the room, making it look much brighter and even more spacious.

"To continue the contemporary yet homely theme in the kitchen, I used strong, fresh colours like lavender and cobalt blue to off-set the warm tones of the oak-style fitted kitchen, whilst also complimenting the chic, chrome kitchen appliances.

"I wanted the dining area within the kitchen to be fresh and bold, so I used a frosted glass table and bright blue fabric for the chairs, which gave the room a real focal point.

"Upstairs, the master bedroom is quite large so I used a striking black, silver and cream patterned wallpaper to visually 'fill the space' and combined it with pine furniture to create a glamorous and a warm elegance, which also enhances the light and airy feel of the room."
