Appointment of Non-Executive Director

We are very pleased to welcome Neville Reyner to the Board. His considerable experience of business and particularly, economic development will be of great benefit to Countryside Properties in the period ahead.

Countryside Properties PLC, a leading developer of sustainable communities, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Neville Reyner CBE BSc MBA to the Board as a Non-Executive Director, effective 2 January 2003.

Mr Reyner, aged 57, is currently Deputy Chairman of the East of England Development Agency, Director of Invest East of England Limited, Director of PERA International Limited and Chairman of Hertfordshire Business Centre Limited. He was previously UK Executive Vice-President of Mitsubishi Electric Europe, leaving in December 1998 after 15 years with the company.

He will be a member of the Audit, Remuneration and Nominations Committees of Countryside Properties.

The Board can confirm that Mr Reyner is not, and has not been at any time in the previous five years, a Director of any publicly quoted company and there is no relevant information to disclose under paragraphs 6.F.2 (b) to (g) of the Listing Rules in relation to his appointment.

Mr Reyner succeeds Sam Pickstock (68), who will retire as a Non-Executive Director of Countryside Properties on 31 December 2002, after eight years with the Company.
