Countryside Properties' In Partnership Division, which specialises in the provision of new and refurbished affordable housing, is pleased to announce that following a successful audit of its Environmental Management System from the British Standards Institute (BSI), it has been certified to the internationally recognised environmental standard BS EN ISO 14001:1996 accreditation.

An Environmental Management System provides a framework for managing environmental responsibilities so they continuously improve and become more integrated into overall business operations. It helps to identify elements of a business that impacts on the environment and aids compliance with relevant environmental legislation. It produces objectives for improvement and a management programme to achieve them, with regular reviews for continual improvement.

In February 2002, In Partnership announced that its Quality Management System had been certified to the new ISO Standard of 9001:2000 in record time.

As a Group, Countryside Properties PLC, the developer of sustainable mixed-use and mixed-tenure projects, last month entered the FTSE4Good UK Index, the innovative socially responsible investment (SRI) index series created by global index group FTSE.

Commenting, Graham Cherry, Chief Executive of Countryside Properties PLC, said:
"Our In Partnership Division's accreditation to ISO 14001:1996 and the Group being admitted to the FTSE4Good Index are strong endorsements of our high environmental standards and our commitment to social and ethical development. We do our utmost to deliver excellence in all respects to our partners and believe that being a socially responsible developer adds value not just to our business, but all those we seek to serve."
