Develop cost and benefit analysis for future reporting.

As in previous years, this report demonstrates that we continue to achieve significant cost benefit through sustainability and supply chain improvements. During 2008 we secured £2.434 million (2007 - £3.891 million) of savings and considerably reduced our environmental and social impacts through the embedding of sustainability objectives.

This lower level of savings (compared with 2007) is primarily due to our reduced claiming of tax relief for the remediation of contaminated land.

Increase the awareness of employees and sub-contractors of sustainability issues. As reported previously sustainability awareness continues to be communicated through a variety of means, including Committees and Forums, our intranet based Environmental Management System, training (with both internal audiences and external stakeholders), trade specifications and contracts, principal contractor and sub-contractor checklists and Reporting.

The remaining 9% are new and existing employees in various stages of obtaining their CSCS Cards.
