To apply sound social, environmental and quality management systems across the Group’s operations. Achieve ISO 9001: 2000 throughout the Group by 2005. The Group was recertified to ISO 9001:2000, during the reporting period.
Maintain ISO 14001:2004 certification throughout the Group. The Group’s wholehearted commitment to sustainability is demonstrated by its continuing commitment to ISO 14001. 100% of the Group has been certified to ISO 14001:2004 since 2006.
Annually maintain certification to OHSAS 18001:1999. 100% of the Group has been certified to OHSAS 18001:1999 since 2002.
Develop cost and benefit analysis for future reporting. As in previous years, this report demonstrates that we are continuing to develop meaningful cost benefit data. During 2006 we secured £2.53million (2005 - £1.47 million) of savings and considerably reduced our environmental and social impacts through the embedding of sustainability objectives.
Increase the awareness of employees and sub-contractors of sustainability issues. As reported previously sustainability awareness is being communicated through a variety of mediums, including structured Committees and Forums; our intranet based Environmental Management System, training, trade specifications, principal contractor checklists and Reporting.
All new employees to hold a relevant CSCS Card within 6 months of joining. The Group has fully endorsed the Construction Skills Certification Scheme and is pursuing 100% compliance for all relevant staff visiting our schemes. To date 91% (2005 – 90%) compliance has been achieved.The remaining 9% are new employees who are in the process of obtaining certification.
