Major new schemes in Cambridge
The Cambridge sub-region is an area of major growth. We are playing a major part in the expansion of the ‘Southern Fringe’ of the City with two allied schemes. Outline planning consent has been received for a new garden suburb at Great Kneighton which will include 2,550 new mixed-tenure homes with community, retail, healthcare and educational facilities, and 120 acres of parkland.
Adjacent to Great Kneighton we have received planning consent, in conjunction with Liberty Property Trust and Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, for the 2.3 million sq ft Cambridge Biomedical Campus. It will be an international centre of excellence in biomedical research providing unparalleled commercial opportunities. The Medical Research Council has commenced its new Laboratory of Molecular Biology on the site and Papworth Hospital will be relocating to the scheme.
The A120 corridor will undoubtedly also present future growth opportunities. One of these is our scheme at Priors Green near Takeley where we are delivering the first phase of this major airport related development.
