Description

The Cambridge Biomedical Campus is an international centre of excellence in biomedical research, providing unparalled commercial opportunities located on 56 hectares (140 acres) site within the city of Cambridge. Countryside Properties, Liberty Property Trust and Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundations are currently undertaking new development to expand and enhance the existing Campus including the expansion of the existing Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

Existing Tenants

Newcomers to the Campus will be working alongside leaders in their respective field, including the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine, Cambridge University Hospitals, The Wellcome Trust and Cancer Research UK. Due to the high level of expertise that already exists on the site, the Cambridge Biomedical Campus currently forms part of an “Academic Health Science Centre and “NIHR Comprehensive Biomedical Research Centre” as well as being ranked number one Science Park in the UK by leading property consultants CBRE. The Medical Research Council has chosen the Campus for its new 25,000 sq m Laboratory of Molecular Biology and Papworth Hospital has also announced its intention to relocate to the Campus. Roger Pederson, world renowned Professor in regenerative medicine at the University of Cambridge’s Department of Surgery, has also been appointed Director of the new Anne McLaren Laboratory for Regenerative Medicine that has been recently opened on the Campus.

Bespoke Accommodation

The Cambridge Biomedical Campus expansion is being expertly masterplanned to create an exemplar centre for biomedical research. A seamless connection between new development and the existing Campus will safeguard an environment which is characterised by leading clinical and biomedical expertise and open networking. Planning has being secured for 215,000 sq m of new development providing biomedical research, clinical treatment and higher education space. High quality bespoke accommodation can be provided in managed surroundings, on either virtual freehold or leasehold terms.

A true scientific supercluster, the East of England offers organisations all of the resources they need to research, develop, and market products and services through established networks. These benefits are magnified at the Cambridge Biomedical Campus where the collaborative work of pioneering engineering organisations allows accelerated translation of scientific research advances into beneficial treatment.

Works on a new access road have commenced and it is envisaged that the first new research and development buildings on the Campus will be completed in 2013, following commencement on site in Spring 2010.
