The Chertsey Opportunity, Chertsey
The Chertsey Opportunity is a major town centre revitalisation project in partnership with Runnymede Borough Council to bring new life into a run down area of 11 acres in Chertsey, close to the Railway Station.
The scheme has involved the development of some 14,446 sq m (155,500 sq ft) of office accommodation in 5 separate buildings, together with 93 mixed-tenure apartments, a new town square and ancillary retail accommodation.
This highly successful mixed-use scheme has completely transformed a run down urban area into a thriving new business and residential community, which has attracted a number of leading companies including The Gartner Group, Lorien Plc, Great Planes Software, Compass Group PLC and EMC Computer Systems (UK) Limited.

Institutional purchasers of the office buildings have included Standard Life Investment Funds Limited, Aberdeen Asset Management and Cadbury Schweppes Pension Trust.
The Phoenix Apartments is a development of contemporary new apartments and retail outlets with four new buildings situated around a raised residents' courtyard garden, creating a real sense of community. Five retail outlets and a restaurant complete the development, which is conveniently located for Chertsey railway station which is less than five minutes walk away.
The Chertsey Opportunity is an excellent example of a successful public/private partnership, resulting in a sustainable mixed-use development bringing new jobs, homes, leisure activities and new transport infrastructure to this previously neglected, run down area of the town centre.
"This is the culmination of more than 12 years work to rejuvenate what everyone had recognised as a very run down area. We really think the revitalisation has been a major success for the town, not only in physical improvements, but also the new job opportunities and homes."
Tim Williams, Chief Executive Officer, Runnymede Borough Council
